Vietnamese women farmers on world dance tour

Fifteen Vietnamese farmers will perform part two of the contemporary dance “Han Han va Con Mua" (Drought and Rain) choreographed by Vietnamese-French Thuy Ea Sola during an upcoming international tour.

The Ministry of Culture and Information said the women farmers from northern provinces Thai Binh and Ha Nam would tour Germany, Singapore (May 10 to June 10), Italy, Switzerland, France and the US (September 14 to December 10).

A decade ago Ea Sola toured 14 European countries with a troupe of rural women aged 50 to 76 from the two provinces to perform “Drought and Rain, Part o­ne”.


She is a famous choreographer whose dances are based mostly o­n the Vietnam War and postwar Vietnam.


The theme of “Drought and Rain” is war seen through the eyes of the young people who o­nly know it through stories and documentaries.
