Vietnamese pianist gives performance in New York

Vietnamese pianist Nguyen Thuy Quynh gave a special performance at the Baisley Powell Elebash concert-hall in New York on the evening of December 12.

Quynh, who was named o­ne of 19 would-be young piano stars by the American Music Magazine, won the applause of local audiences, including a large number of Vietnamese nationals, with classic works by Amadeus Mozart, Morris Ravel and Fryderyk Chopin.

The 30-year-old woman has given performances in many European countries, including Hungary, Germany, Sweden Austria and France, and has won many valuable international awards.

She studied at the Hanoi Conservatoire, Gnesin college in Moscow and the Julliards School in New York. She is now teaching at the New York-based Hunter College and completing a PhD degree in music at New York University
