Vietnam Women’s Union supported the Central Region
In the past few days, the No 6 storm (Typhoon Xangsane) directly affected the Central region causing severe damage in both people and properties. Damages caused by the storm are estimated at hundreds billion VND.
Echoing with people throughout the country toward people in the Central region, on 3rd October 2006, VWU’s President Ha Thi Khiet sent a letter of sympathy to the people victimized by the storm, at the same time the Presidium decided to support 70 million VND to 7 provinces/cities of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien Hue, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Kon Tum. This money was immediately transferred to the above provinces/cities Women’s Unions to assist families affected by the storm.
At the same day, the Trade Union body of the VWU motivated its members to support victims at least one-day salary/each to timely support the victims to overcome difficulties caused by the storm, to promptly settle their lives.
