Vietnam Women’s Union honours outstanding followers of Uncle Ho’s example
Attending the meeting, are the leaders of the Party, State, ministries, sectors, and the VWU over the periods; representatives of corporations, enterprises and international organizations; and 150 women delegates with outstanding achievements in the studying and following Uncle Ho and build new-style rural areas.
Speaking at the meeting, Mdm. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - President of the VWU, appreciated the results achieved by the women’s unions at all levelsand its members; and congratulated 150 outstanding typical female individuals honoured at the meeting. She also expressed pride and touch in the Vietnamese women who have the strong will to enrich the family and the country; ceaselessly make efforts; are dynamic and creative to overcome challenges, improve technology, develop production, and build happy family. Mdm. Ha conveyed her belief and desire that the typical collectives and individuals would continuously work harder, be creative and take responsibility to be the pioneer force to inspire and motivate young people as well as be the core of women’s movements in the upcoming time.

Addressing the event, Mr. Tran Thanh Man, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), extended his congratulations to the VWU for their significant achievements over recent years, while praising the honourees from provinces, units, regions, ethnic groups and religions for their significant performance in studying and following Uncle Ho’s example.
He emphasized the pivotal role played by the VWU in gathering, uniting and encouraging its members to become engaged in socio-economic development and national construction and defence tasks, stating that the acceleration of the study and following of Uncle Ho’s example has been extensively implemented by the WUs at all levels in various forms.

Following the tradition and developing its strengths with various specific and practical actions as well as diversified and creative ways, in 2 years from 2016-2017, the WU at all levels had 12 thousand activities towards building new-style rural areas; built thousands of models for a beautiful, clean and green environment, such as: “Flower, medical plant road”, “Light of village road”, “Countryside without garbage”, “Women group’s behavior change in food safety and hygiene”, “Women group for rural road maintainance”…
Many savings practicing models following Uncle Ho’s example associated with social security have been implemented effectively, creating a strong spread within the community, such as: “Support each other in eradicating hunger and alleviating poverty”, “Piggy bank”, “From trash to insurance card”… By the end of 2017, the total savings amount by female members through savings models reached over 3.700 billion VND. And from 2016-2017, the women’s unions at all levels not only made a campaign to build more than 7.400 shelters, but also helped nearly 100.000 poor female-headed households escape from poverty, supported more than 400.000 poor female-headed households implementing the movement of “5 Withouts and 3 Cleans” every year.
From practical activities, many groups, typical individuals, effective methods, and creative models of outstanding women have been spred all over the country, which created dynamic emulation of learning and following Uncle Ho’s example and building new-style rural areas. The WU at all levels has praised nearly 26.000 individuals and collectives, especially, at the ceremony, the VWU Presidium honoured and praised 150 outstanding collectives, individuals, and households representing thousands of the typical collectives and individuals in the country.
