Vietnam Women’s Union and KOICA support needy women during Covid-19 pandemic

As an effort to respond to Covid-19, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) supported the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) necessities to help women in need of Hanoi.

More than 700 gift packages worth VND 225 million were handed to disadvantaged women in 6 districts of Hanoi. A handing ceremony was held in Dong Da district on April 23 with the attendance of Madam Tran Thi Huong - Vice President of VWU, Mr. Cho Han-Deok - Country Director of KOICA  Viet Nam Office, Ms. Le Kim Anh - President of Hanoi Women’s Union, and officials of Dong Da district.

Dong Da district is highly susceptible to Covid-19 epidemic due to big influx of non-permanent residents and location of many hospitals, including big outbreak and isolation points such as Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi French Hospital, Nephrology Hospital.

Mr. Cho Han-Deok highly appreciated the efforts by the Vietnamese Government in controlling the pandemic. He emphasized the importance of strengthened international solidarity, mutual trust and cooperation to overcome Covid-19 and affirmed KOICA’s commitment to support disadvantaged people.

After the ceremony, the delegation visited and presented gifts to a poor family and a group of dialysis patients in Phuong Mai ward, Dong Da district.
