Vietnam Women's Union awarded 25 prizes of Contest "Family safe from natural disasters and climate change"

On the morning of June 30 in Hanoi, the Central Vietnam Women's Union, in collaboration with the Plan International Vietnam and the Live&Learn Center, has held an awarding ceremony of the contest "Family safe from natural disasters and climate change".

The Contest was launched by the Central VWU from March 4, 2021 to May 31, 2021 throughout the country. This aims at spreading awareness to the community, family, and individuals to take action toward the environment, seeking and promoting initiatives and solutions, in contribution to build a safe living environment, reduce disaster risks and enhance resilience to climate change for women and children. This is also one of series of activities in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam Family Day, and in response to the National Action Month on Environmental Protection.

As a result, there were 1,070 initiatives /proposals sending to the contest. They were all reviewed and evaluated by the Organization committee. Among others, there are 11 collective, 8 individuals, and 6 prizes of online voting through VWU fan page selecting for the Awarding Ceremony.

Contest Exhibition

Speaking at the ceremony, VWU Vice President Tran Thi Huong emphasized that although it was only launched for a short time, taking place at the time when the 4th Covid-19 pandemic broke out in many localities, the contest attracted a large number of VWU’s members, with many initiatives and solutions that are diverse in content and forms. Many of these have been implementing and spreading locally, to contribute to raising awareness and protecting the environment, preventing and reducing risks of natural disasters and climate change in localities.

VWU Vice President Tran Thi Huong hopes that, after the contest, numerous typical initiatives and solutions will be spreading further. Every author becomes an active communicator, spreading their ideas to local people and community for joining hands of taking actions to protect the environment and prevent women and children from natural disaster risks and climate change.
