Vietnam’s Miss World nominees introduced

26/10/2009
VietNamNet Bridge – The US-based RAAS Group, which holds the right to send a Vietnamese contestant to the Miss World 2009 pageant, will select a candidate from three nominees recommended by the PL Modeling Company.

Tran Thi Huong Giang is the second runner-up of Miss Vietnam Global. Phan Thi Ngoc Diem is Miss Tourism and Duong Thi My Linh is Miss Vietnam through Photo.

Minh Suong, PR manager for RAAS, said that the group will make its final decision this week.

PL Modeling’s director Tran Thanh Long said that his company only suggests nominees for RAAS, who will select their representative and then apply to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) for a license.

MCST official Pham Dinh Thang is in charge of licensing candidates for international pageants. Thang reported that the ministry will swiftly license the Vietnamese candidate for Miss World 2009.

“This year Vietnam has not organized any beauty contests for single women, but it doesn’t affect the selection of our representative,” Thang claimed. “The decision belongs to the agency that holds the right to send a Vietnamese contestant to Miss World 2009. If they meet the criteria of the pageant and Vietnam’s regulations, we will approve the license quickly.”

PL Modeling representative Thanh Long said that the beauty of each of the three nominees is different, so it is very difficult to say who is best.

The Miss World 2009 pageant will take place in South Africa in December 2009. Some 81 countries have registered for the event.

Vietnam is also seeking candidates for the Miss Earth and Miss International pageants.
