Vietnam Heroic Mother Monument – a meaningful and large scale work art
The monument originated from the live model of Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu, who has 11 children and grandchildren laid down their lives in the past 2 Resistant Wars for National Independence and Freedom . Mother Thu is now 104 year-old and living with her only daughter who recently was also entitled the honor of “Vietnam HeroicMother”.
The construction includes a park of monuments, in which the main part of the monument has the bow shape and is made of stone, with 78 meters wide. In the center is the shape of Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu aged (the half length statue of mother Thu at her 70 –80 year old and at height of 15.2metre).
Along the way led to Mother Thu Square are 8 legend mother monumentssymbolizing mothers in the North West areas in the Resistance War against the French colonialists, Mother Suot in Quang Binh who helped soldiers to pass river under the American bombarding, High Land Tay Nguyen Mothers who saved corns, cassava for soldiers. In addition, monument of legend female volunteer who paved the road under the US Army’s intense bombarding and fires.
Besides, there are 2 streams start from behind the bow-shape stone monument and run into 2 large lakes symbolizing the “mother’s heart as an inexhaustible spring source”. In the two sides of central road are modern and traditional garden zones. The Monument Square will not only be a place to solemn and respectful place, but alsoa park where one can feel warm and full of respect, admiration and love.
The Vietnam Heroic Mother Monument will be a meaningful, large-scale work art, and a historical spot on the highway connecting North and South.
