Vietnam girl gets MIT doctoral scholarship

The prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US recently announced a doctoral scholarship worth US$349,920 for a Vietnamese IT major.

Nguyen Bao Nguyen, a senior at the National University of Singapore (NUS), was also offered scholarships by seven other renowned US universities including Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Ivy League school Cornell University.


Originally from central Danang city, Nguyen was considering her options and planned to begin her doctoral studies in the US this August.


In 2002, Nguyen earned a scholarship to NUS where she achieved exceptionally high grades in the three following years.


MIT is the US leader in IT, science and technology education and training.
