Viet Nam achieves decade-long target on longevity

Vietnamese now have an average lifespan of 71.3 years as compared to the target of 71 years set for 2010, said the Health Ministry on Jan. 2.

The Ministry said longevity is o­ne of many targets o­n health and life quality that the country has achieved in 2005. Other achievements are: the death rates of under-one and under-five children dropped to 21 per thousand and 32 per thousand, respectively, against the targets of 30 and 37 per thousand.
