Vice State President receives Oxfam Great Britain’s director

Vice State President Truong My Hoa received Oxfam Great Britain Executive Director Barbara Stoking in Ha Noi on July 23.

Vice President Hoa spoke highly of Oxfam GB’s support to Viet Nam in improving the livelihood of underprivileged farmers and workers, primary education access and quality for the poor and ethnic minority people, humanitarian aids, disaster prevention and mitigation and gender equality.

She said these fields are also priorities in the agenda of the Vietnamese government, adding that Viet Nam hopes to receive more assistance from the international community, including Oxfam GB.

Director Barbara Stoking highlighted Viet Nam’s achievements in socio-economic development, especially in hunger alleviation, saying that the organisation wants to introduce the these experiences to other countries.

She also expressed thanks to the Vietnamese Government for creating favourable conditions for Oxfam GB’s operation in the country.

Oxfam GB, which has offices in 70 countries around the world, started their activities in Viet Nam in 1955.
