Union helps lift rural women out of poverty
The Chi Linh District’s Women Union in Hai Duong Province says it has helped many disadvantaged women to secure preferential bank loans over the years. The loans have helped women and their families escape poverty and lead more comfortable lives.
Dang Thi Phuc, the union chairwoman, said the union helped manage VND46 billion (US$ 290,000) in loans, helping 5,000 local families create private businesses. Phuc and her colleagues often organise short-term training courses in breeding and farming skills as well.
