The issue of Vietnamese women marrying RoK men needs more attention from both sides: Vietnamese ambassador

04/05/2006
Relevant agencies of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) should have an objective, fair and practical view and conduct comprehensive research to protect the legitimate rights of Vietnamese bribes, said Pham Tien Van, Vietnamese ambassador to the RoK on April 27.

He was referring to Korean newspaper Chosun’s recent article, which did not reflect correctly the state of Vietnamese women marrying RoK men.

The author of the article already made his official apology, the ambassador said, adding that in recent times, the RoK press had run news stories about Vietnam with a positive attitude of goodwill.

In general, the ambassador further said, a majority of Vietnamese women marrying RoK men are living a rather stable life. However, to maximum prevent cases of domestic violence against Vietnamese women, relevant agencies of the two countries should have stronger coordinated activities.
