The first Vietnam ‘Ao dai’ Association Congress

In the afternoon of June 12, the first Vietnam ‘Ao dai’ Association Congress took place with the participation of more than 230 women representatives of Thua Thien Hue province and Ho Chi Minh City.

‘Ao dai’ Association is established according to the Decision No 1158/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee in Thua Thien Hue province. “Ao dai’ Association is a voluntary social / professional organization of Vietnamese and overseas people, which gathers volunteers nationwide in solidarity. Together they cooperate to preserve, respect and uphold the value of Vietnam’s Ao dai – the symbol of national, traditional and cultural beauty.In addition, they strive to create a traditional yet modern clothing aesthetic which contributes to progressing Vietnam’s culture and its charming national character. At first, the Association conducted activities in Thua Thien Hue province and Ho Chi Minh City, gradually it is going to expand the cooperation with units at home and abroad.

At the first meeting of the Executive Board of ‘Ao dai’ Association, Madam Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to European Union, Former Deputy Chairman of Committee of Foreign Affairs in National Assembly was elected President of the Association and Madam Nguyen Khoa Dieu Huyen, Head of Liaison Department of Dong Khanh Alumnae Union was elected General Secretary of the Association.

In the morning of June 13, the Executive Board of ‘Ao dai’ Association together with Thua Thien Hua Women’s Union organized a press conference to present ‘Ao dai’ Association before the public at the Hue Festival Service Center.

Mme. Ton Nu Thi Ninh, the President of ‘Ao dai’ Association said that the Association gathered 200 members with many great names in various fields such as Mme. Minh Hanh, creative Director of FADIN Fashion Institute, Mme. Dang Thanh Nha, a writer of Hue Literature Association, Mme. Nguyen Thi Khanh Tam, Editor in chief of HCMC Women’s Newspaper, Mme. Nguyen Khoa Dieu Huyen, Head of Liaison Department of Dong Khanh Alumnae Union to name a few.

On this same occasion, the ‘Ao dai’ Association offered 20 presents including Ao dai and a scholarship worth 1 million VND/person to female students living in difficult situations in Thua Thien Hue province.
