The Central Vietnam Women’s Union: Receiving the delegation of former leaders of VWU at the Central and Provincial levels

On the occasion of celebrating the Liberation Day of the South of Vietnam, April 30, and the International Labor Day, May 1, Vice President of VWU, Mme. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, received the delegation of former leaders of VWU at the central and provincial levels who are currently retired in the South of Vietnam during their visit to Hanoi on April 22, 2009 at the head quarter of VWU.



At the meeting, the Vice President commended the contribution of the delegates in their leadership positions of VWU at the central and provincial levels during the fighting and liberating period and in the development process of the country today.

 

The Vice President summarized the results of VWU’s activities over the past few years; the directions for VWU’s activities in the time to come; the effective implementation of the Resolution of the Tenth National Women’s Congress inside the VWU’s system; the supervision of the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 11 o­n women’s tasks o­n the context of the country’s industrialization and modernization; the formulation and submission to the Prime Minister of four projects, namely Vocational Training for Women for the 2009-2015 period; Education o­n Motherhood for Five Million Mothers; Communication and Education o­n Virtuous Characters of Women; Free Delivery of Newspapers for WU of communal level and WU branches in the poorest communes; preparation for the 80th anniversary of the VWU’s Foundation Day; and the establishment of the Women’s Institute.

 

The delegates recalled their memories during their working time and expressed their expectation to receive further attention from the Central VWU so that retired VWU’s staff have more regular meetings for exchanges, compliments and encouragement among each other.

 

On behalf of the delegation, Mme. Ngo Thu Hong, former President of Kien Giang Provincial WU expressed her feelings when visiting the North, paying tribute to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Head Office of VWU, the common House of Vietnamese Women. She made recommendations to the Central VWU o­n the VWU’s staff electing, training, nurturing and employing for the improvement of staff quality, meeting the demand of the country’s integration and development, and encouraging the VWU’s staff to participate in different fields within the parameters set by the Central Party and the Government.

 

Mme. Nguyen Thi Nam, o­ne of the delegates, shared this: “Despite our aging and retirement, we are playing key role in the WUs of our localities, and striving for the golden words of “heroism, unyieldingness, faithfulness, and capableness” awarded by President Ho Chi Minh to Vietnamese women.

 

On behalf of the VWU’s Presidium, Vice President Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy promised to strive to fulfill the role of VWU at the Central level, to promote the VWU’s activities for a successful implementation of the Resolution of the Tenth National Women’s Congress, thus affirming the position of female staff in the process of country’s construction and development.

 

On this occasion, the delegation visited old office and commemorated the late President of VWU, Nguyen Thi Dinh in her old office at the head quarter of VWU in Hanoi.
