The 27th regular conference of National Committee for the Advancement of Women in Vietnam

In order to summarize and evaluate its activities in a whole year, NCFAW on 10th January 2006 held the 27th regular conference in Hanoi.

Mme. Ha Thi Khiet, President of NCFAW and VWU chaired the conference. Also present were the 2 NCFAW’s Vice Presidents,Mr. Nguyen Phu Binh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mme. Dang Huynh Mai, Deputy Minister of Education and Training as well as NCFAW’s members.

 

At the conference various reports were discussed including the Summarizing Campaign for the Advancement of Women and Classifying Examine Outcome 2005, Contribution to Work plan 2006 (WP), Discussion about National Conference, summarize 5-year WP 2005 and popularize WP 2010; and ministries and industries’ implementing duties.

 

These reports show that NCFAW in 2005 made active achievements, fulfilling focused tasks including coordinating with the Ministry of Plan and Investment to instruct ministries and localities to summarize WP 2005 and build up WP 2010; assisting in directing the implementation of the work plan; conducting training o­n mainstreaming gender for Departments’ new Chief and Deputy Chief; holding an experience exchange conference in activities for the advancement of women among standing staff; examining 20 localities, holding an Advisory conference o­n gender issues in socio-economic development 2006 – 2010 draft; conducting surveys and seminars o­n Gender Equality Draft Law; and hosting International Conference o­n Gender Equality Law’s implementing body. International cooperation has brought about positive results in participating in important world forums, making reports o­n 5th and 6th CEDAW, widening international relations of friendship and cooperation, and mobilizing external fund to assist NCFAW.

 

When discussing WP 2006, delegates agreed that in 2006 NCFAW in coordination with MPI and other related ministries will hold a National Conference to summarize the action plan for the advancement of women in 2005 and implement this plan in 2010; carry out a combined campaign to achieve the goals in the WP. Concerning international cooperation, NCFAW will carry out its duty of President of APEC Gender Leaders Network and host the 4th annual session as well as fulfill its assigned tasks in APEC 2006.

 

Delegates appreciated NCFAW’s practical and qualitative activities and outlined a new development in 2006 and agreed o­n focused tasks approved at this conference.
