Thanh Hang set new national record

Truong Thanh Hang continued to beat her teammate in the national team to win a gold medal in women’s 1,500 metres, breaking her previous national record at national track and field contest at the National Sports Games in Da Nang on September 12, according to Ho Chi Minh City Sports newspaper.

The newspaper reported was the first athlete to finish women’s 1,500 metres, clocking 04:18.50, just 0.5 seconds faster than her previous record, set at the 23rd SEA Games in the Philippines o­ne year ago.


It was the second gold medal won by Thanh Hang for Ho Chi Minh City. Earlier, Thanh Hang beat Do Thi Bong in women’s 800 metres to win a gold medal.


Other results of the fifth day of competition are as follows: Pham Ngoc Hoang from Khanh Hoa won a gold medal in men’s 5,000 metres. Nguyen Thi Bac from Ha Tay won a gold medal in women’s 400 metre hurdles. Vu Van Tinh from the Army team won a gold medal in men’s 400 metre hurdles. Vu Thi Huong won the second medal in women’s 200 metres. Earlier, she clinched a gold medal in women’s 100 metres. Nguyen Dinh Cuong from Ninh Binh won a gold medal in men’s 1,500 metres. Truong Van Lam from Tien Giang won a gold medal in men’s 200 metres. Kim Thi Tien from Soc Trang won a gold medal in women’s disc throw. Dinh Duc Thien from Phu Tho won a gold medal in men’s disc throw. Bui Van Ha from the Army team won a gold medal in men’s pole vault.


The contest end o­n September 13 with men’s and women’s marathon events and men’s 20 kilometre walk.
