Symposium on women and children related issues

From May 9 to May 13, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) organized a Symposium on women and children related issues.

Mme. Truong Thi Khue-Standing Vice president of VWU- attended and delivered the opening speech of the symposium.

 

The symposium was also participated by Major General Cao Ngoc Oanh-Deputy Director of General Department of Police, representatives from Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs; National Committee for Sports and Gymnastics; representatives of VWU’s departments and representatives of leaders and communicators from 32 provincial Women’s Unions in the North (from Thua Thien Hue).

 

In her opening speech, Mme. Truong Thi Khue stressed o­n the importance of the prevention of social evils in general and trafficking in women and children in particular. It requires not o­nly the efforts of the Police but also the cooperation among other sectors, especially the Women’s Union at different levels.


At the symposium, panelists were invited to deliver discussion o­n the current crime situation, trafficking in women and children; social evils prevention related law and policy; Law o­n Children Protection, Care and Education; education in social evils prevention; orientation of Population, Family and Children Work 2005; the integration of population, family and children related activities into VWU focused programs and patriotic movement. Besides, participants were also provided with skills of communication and management of social evils prevention works.
