Statue of Vietnamese women inaugurated in Hanoi

The statue of Women of ‘Three Responsibilities’ was inaugurated in the centre of Phung town, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi on October 8 to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Three responsibilities’ is a movement launched during the anti-US war of aggression, in which Vietnamese women assumed responsibilities for the household, production and fighting while their men were o­n the battle front.

The 5.2-metre stone statue sculptured by Le Hong Phong depicting a proud Vietnamese woman who is carrying a gun o­n her shoulder and holding a baby in her arms. This statue is considered as a symbol of Vietnamese women who strive to excel at State and house work and is also served as a preparation for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
