Space for women with disabilities to join creative startup

Recently the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) launched the 2020 Contest "Creative Women Entrepreneurs - Successful Connection" to support and help realize startup ideas and projects with priority given to poor women, women with disabilities, women from ethnic minority and disadvantaged areas.

According to VWU Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao’s remarks at the contest launching ceremony on the morning of January 9, 2020, this activity is under the framework of the "Program on Supporting Women Startups for the period 2017-2025” (Program 939) approved by the Prime Minister in 2017. For the last 2 years, the Women Unions within this Program supported more than 38,415 women startups, 845 new enterprises, and provided USD 10.2 million worth of credit to 13,000 startup women. Over 25,000 businesswomen were provided with counseling, training and connected to borrow about USD 6.1 million.

The contest "Creative Women Entrepreneurs - Successful Connection" is for production and business areas with priority given to agriculture and applied sciences and technologies.

Applicants are businesses, cooperatives, economic units managed or owned by women; scientists and professionals who work with businesses and cooperatives in order to scale up production and innovatively apply sciences and technologies so as to improve production methodologies, develop new products and services, or new economic models which contribute to sustainable community development and preservation of national cultural identities.

Applications are to be received before March 1, 2020. The best entries are to be selected for the national final round in June 2020. Women with disabilities will be given training, technical advice, support to access finance and connection with businesses and investors.
