Review Conference of Women Leaders Network’s activities for 2017-2022 term

On the morning of February 19, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), the Central Vietnam Women's Union held a conference to review the activities of the Network of Women Leaders - Members of the VWU Central Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term. These members are from ministries and central governmental agencies.

Over the past 5 years, with the support of the Asia Foundation in Vietnam, the central VWU and the Network have implemented many practical and effective activities to further promote the roles and responsibilities of its members in realizing the Resolution of the 12th National Women's Congress; and strenthen the coordination between ministries and agencies with the VWU. The Network has contributed to improving the capacity of female leaders and managers in politics as well as the VWU’s performance.

The Network members have actively participated in campaigns, programs, and movements, etc. launched by the Central VWU such as: "Supporting women in border areas" Program to improve women’s living condition in these areas; "Millions gifts of love" Program to help women and children overcome difficulties, epidemics and natural disasters, and the "Patron-parents" Program to support orphans due to COVID-19, etc. Thereby, the network has mobilized many resources to help families of poor women and children with difficult circumstances.

At the conference, the participants also shared, discussed and exchanged experiences in implementing activities for capacity building and promoting the effectiveness of the Network.

Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Ha Thi Nga praised the Network for its achievements. At the same time, she set goals for the Network for the 2022-2027 term, including: further improving its members’ leadership and management capacity, providing them with more soft skills, and new knowledge; having initiatives to effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Women's Congress and the resolutions of the VWU Executive Committee; continuing to effectively implement programs and campaigns launched by the VWU; strengthening the connection among Network members, etc.
