Poverty reduction targets between 2006-2010

Reducing the poverty rate as defined by the new criteria (end of 2005) to 15% by 2010, bringing in average 300,000 households out of poverty every year and reducing 38% of the poor households in 5 years.

To the year 2010, the income by poor households will be 1.45 times higher. 7.5 million of households will be able to borrow credit at preferential interest rate from the Bank of Social Policies; 5 million households able to borrow credit for agricultural-forestry-fishery extension and technology transfer and have access to income generation training; 1.5 million poor people benefit from free and subsidized vocational training. 14 million poor people will enjoy free health examination and treatment. 10 million poor pupils will enjoy school fee reduction and exemption. 170,000 state employees in charge of poverty reduction will have refresher training for capacity building. 500,000 poor households will have assistance for more stable housing. Poor communes in coastal areas and poor communes in general will have adequate basic infrastructure.
