PLATYPUS: CONGRATULATIONS on OUR 5TH ANNIVERSARY IN VIETNAM!

We at Platypus in Australia are delighted to congratulate our partners, the Vietnam Women’s Union on the 5th anniversary of our joint operations in Ha Giang and Quang Nam Provinces.

The Union has been instrumental in setting up scholarship schemes to assist families living in poverty with the education of children to high school graduation level. There are plans underway to help others with further education and we expect to commence such programmes in 2018.

The VWU has helped us construct programmes to relieve poverty in selected areas through advancing micro-banking loans. A scheme has been devised whereby piglet sows gifted to deserving families to enable them to commence small-scale piggery operations are shared with others, so that the gift is passed on perpetually. In time, we will jointly develop other means of assisting the poor. The very extensive community network and communication facilities of the VWU are in our opinion unmatched in Vietnam and we are always able to consider new programmes with a high degree of confidence.

Our Chairman has enjoyed a superb relationship with the VWU since 2004 when he had cause to rely on their help with a research project that revealed the depth of skill within that organisation, and the extent of care and concern for a wide range of family and women’s causes. That project involved interviewing aged Hero Mothers, some of whom had health issues, and the level of care displayed ensured that when Platypus needed a local partner, the VWU was the first organisation we approached.

We have never looked back and we are proud to be linked with an organisation that rightly enjoys a high level of international prestige. We thank you, and we look forward to a successful and harmonious relationship for many years to come.

With best wishes,

Robert Greer

Chairman
