A large number of overseas Vietnamese living in Laos gathered at the Chalonsay Hotel in Vientiane on April 18 to watch the broadcast of the opening session of the 10th Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

Khamchan Siphanthoong, a Lao businessman of Vietnamese origin in Vientiane, said that after 20-year of implementation of its policy on national renovation, the CPV has led Viet Nam out of economic crisis and into continued development. The Party has implemented policies to encourage the overseas Vietnamese community to look toward the home country, he noted.

He said he believed that the 10th Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam will decide guidelines suitable to the new development stage of the Vietnamese Revolution and select typical representatives to the 10th Party Central Committee.

Khamchan Siphanthoong expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Party and State would pay more attention to the overseas Vietnamese community, including Vietnamese living in Laos, thus strengthening the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
