Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa elected president of Women's Union

Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, permanent Vice President in the ninth term, was elected President of the Vietnam Women's Union, as the tenth National Women's Congress concluded in Hanoi on October 4.

The three-day congress also elected four vice presidents and set eight main targets for the new term, including an 80% membership registration rate for the group’s learning, working and family building emulation drive; 60% of mothers of under-16 children given guidance o­n raising children; and 70% of poor women's households to receive aid from the union.

The union will also provide vocational training for 50,000 female workers annually.


The congress raised more than VND 90 million to help victims of the Can Tho bridge disaster.
