Mme. Ha Thi Khiet, VWU President, visited and presented gifts to the poor women in Dien Bien province
They are among the 185 households that received Affection Houses built with VWU support in beginning 2004.
Joining Mme. Ha Thi Khiet were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, member of the Executive Committee, Standing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Hoang Be, Vice chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women; Ms. Lau Thi Mai, President of the Provincial WU; and many leaders of the city, district and commune levels.
Mme. Ha Thi Khiet and the delegation visited the following families: Ms. Luong Thi Nhung and Ms. Lo Thi Dom - Thai ethnics in Na Loi village, Thanh Minh commune, Ms. Lam Thi Dung – Tay ethnic and Ms. Vu Thi Tram – Kinh ethnic in ward 3, Him Lam district,
With the VWU support of 5 million VND/each household and the assistance by local WUs in labour, material and foodstuff, these families managed to have a house built, not yet spacious and convenient – some even remain incomplete - but solid enough for a stable life.
On behalf of VWU Central Office, President Ha Thi Khiet presented gifts and talked with the households. She encouraged the women to overcome difficulties, increase household production, assist each other for hunger elimination and poverty reduction and actively participate in social activities in return for the VWU attention.
