Memorial of Queen Le Ngoc Han to be built in September

On June 24th, at the Hanoi citadel ancient relics, the Association for the Preservation of Thang Long Hanoi cultural heritage launched a social programme to build the memorial of Queen Le Ngoc Han.

Many seminars were held to affirm her life and career, and confirmed the proposal of building her memorial in her mother’s village.

The memorial will be built in September in Ninh Hiep commune, about 20km from the center of Hanoi, in October 2009 from socialized capital launched by the Association for the Preservation of Thang Long Hanoi cultural heritage. The construction is expected to be completed o­n the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

The capital which is needed for the construction will be 13 billion VND.Princess Le Ngoc Han is a daughter of king Le Hien Tong. She was recorded in history as a talented beautiful woman. When she was 16 years old, she married king Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue and became the second queen of the village.

Six years later, in 1792, king Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue died. And Queen Le Ngoc Han died 7 years later when she was o­nly 29 years old.
