Marriage between Vietnamese women and Korean men - A close connection and coordination between Vietnam and Republic of Korea should be established

To establish a hotline for marriages between Vietnamese women and Korean men was agreed to submit to Governments of Vietnam and Republic of Korea by Mrs. Kang Kim Sil, Korean Ambassador of Gender, Korean Former Minister of Justice and Mrs. Ha Thi Khiet, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union and Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Committee for the Advancement of Women at a working session on Jan 8th, 2007 in the working visit of Mrs. Kang in Vietnam.

The hotline is served to provide information and advices to help solve the problems of those who have married or want to get married to Korean men to minimize negative impacts.

 

The two sides affirmed the necessity to equip knowledge and counseling skills for staff of Marriage Supporting Centers of the Union at provincial level and to provide information and knowledge of Laws and Policies, languages, cultures, manners and customs of the two countries for Vietnamese women and Korean men.

 

Mrs. Kang Kim Sil expressed her gratitude to the Vietnam Women's Union for its co-operation with the RoK recently, and hoped to receive closer cooperation from the Women’s Union in the time to come.

 

Mrs. Ha Thi Khiet, President of the Vietnam Women's Union suggested the two governments sign an agreement o­n providing judicial support for international marriage.
