On July 23rd, on behalf of the VWU Presidium, VWU’s Vice President Bui Thi Hoa presented the Merit Medal for the Development of Vietnamese Women to Ms. Cho Jung Myung - Deputy Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa praised Ms. Cho Jung Myung's significant contributions as a Deputy Country Director of KOICA Vietnam over the past 3 years to gender equality, women’s development and vulnerable groups protection. She also actively promoted the cooperation between KOICA Vietnam and the VWU for women empowerment via development programs and projects.

Ms. Cho Jung Myung has been in charge of and involved since the early days in designing the project Strengthening Vietnamese Capacity for Sustainable Reintegration of Returning Migrants Women and their Households in Vietnam” implemented by the VWU from 2019–2021. The project is funded by KOICA with a total budget of 1 million USD.

After 2 years, 5 One Stop Service Offices (OSSO) have been established in project provinces and cities of Hanoi, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Hai Phong and Hai Duong. These are trusted addresses to provide free counseling services for returning migrant women and connect them to relevant agencies and service providers in response to their needs and problems.

Ms. Cho Jung Myung expressed her appreciation and sincere thanks to the VWU acknowledgement. Coming back to Korea with a new assignment, she however would always be willing to support the VWU in promoting gender equality and women development, she said.
