Important APEC events to be held in September

The FMM-13, which will be held in Hanoi from September 4-8, is expected to draw over 30 finance ministers and bank governors from 21 APEC member economies, representatives of some international financial organisations and private enterprises.

The meeting will focus o­n discussing matters relating to budget collection policies and dialogues between the finance ministers and representatives of private businesses [ the APEC Business Advisory Council (APEC-ABAC)] o­n financial reform policies.

The delegates will also discuss how to strengthen the stability and effectiveness of incomes and renovate the financial sector in order to attract flows of capital, as well as consider the possibility of approving strategic recommendations to increase the quality and effectiveness of the APEC Finance Ministers' Process (FMP).

On the sidelines of the FMM-13, bilateral exchanges between the finance ministers of APEC member economies o­n financial and economic bilateral cooperation issues will take place.

SOM III, the third largest meeting in the APEC Year, will be organised in the city of Da Nang and Hoi An town, central Quang Nam province, from September 4-17.

During the FMM-13, there will be meetings of the anti-corruption and transparency task force, the government procurement experts group, the e-commerce steering group, the health task force, the informal experts' group o­n business mobility, and the intellectual property experts group.

The APEC customs business dialogue, the fourth APEC conference o­n good regulatory practices, the sixth APEC conference o­n standards and conformance, the 2006 APEC capacity building seminar o­n avian influenza, and a public-private dialogue o­n anti-corruption and transparency in business transactions will also take place.

A series of events will take place in parallel with the FMM-13 and SOM-III meetings. They include the 11th meeting of APEC Women Leaders' Network in Ha Noi from Sept. 19-22, the conference o­n supporting women exporters in Hanoi o­n Sept. 22 and 23, the 3rd APEC young leaders and entrepreneurs in HCM City from Sept. 20-24, the seminar o­n supporting measures for the development of micro enterprises and policy advice o­n APEC cooperation programmes to support micro enterprises in Hanoi o­n Sept. 25, and the 13th APEC small and medium-sized enterprises ministerial meeting in Hanoi o­n Sept. 28 and 29.
