This year's event features over 1,000 movies from 74 countries and territories worldwide.

Phuong’s honour comes off the back of her winning the best actress award at the 2021 Paris International Film Festival.

The “Invisible Love” movie, co-directed by Xiang Guo of China and Nguyen Minh Phuong, with Bill Einreinhofer as executive producer, also won "Best Narrative Feature Film" and "Best International Collaboration" at 2021 Paris International Film Festival. In addition, it claimed the Award of Excellence for its art direction, along with the Award of Merit (Asian Film Feature) at Indie Fest in the United States.

The movie was also nominated at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. However, the event was delayed due to the COVID-19 impact.

Born in 1996, Hoang Phuong has appeared in some TV shows and a joint Vietnamese-Japanese production of "Along the Sea". This is one of her most significant films to date as it won an award for Best Film dealing with Human Trafficking Issues at the 2020 Cairo International Film Festival.
