Ho Chi Minh City’s Club of “Women Participating in Environmental Preservation”

On the morning of March 2nd 2006, the Women’s Union of Ward 11, district 5, Ho Chi Minh City held the Presenting Ceremony of 35-member “Women Participating in Environment Preservation” Club.

This is 1 between 2 first main units (ward 11 of district 5 and Tan Thong Hoi commune of Cu Chi district) that builds o­n the pilot model of “Women Participating in Environmental Activities” club, a new, diversified model facilitating women’s work, exchanging experiences in environmental preservation and proposed solutions to difficulties related to environmental activities. This model also acts as a key unit for disseminating and holding environmental preservation programs as well as finding urgent environmental issues to discuss, mobilizing the community to solve or make suggestions to appropriate authorities. In the ceremony, delegates elected 5 members of Executive Committee. Ms. Huynh Ngoc Tran, and the leader of the Chinese women work group was elected as Chairwoman of the Committee.

 

That afternoon Cu Chi district also held a meeting at the meeting hall of the communal people’s committee.

 

According to Ms. Truong Thi Anh, President of Ho Chi Minh Women’s Union, after 1 year, the WU will summarize, evaluate and learn from experience of Cu Chi and district 5 as well as extend this model to 22 remaining districts in Ho Chi Minh City.
