Ha Tay Women’s Union establishing models of drug preventing clubs

Against the complicated situation of social evils and drug-related crimes, Ha Tay Women's Union has organized a number of communication activities and encouraged its members to actively participate in preventing social evils and drug-related crimes.

Women's Union at all level in Ha Tay has focused o­n such models as: anti-malnutrition clubs, reproductive health clubs, sports clubs, women with laws clubs, etc. The clubs gather regularly and organize activities, which are supplemented with issues relating to the prevention of drug and social evils. o­ne typical example is the model of Club "Prevention of drug and social evils from families" which has produced practical effects.

 

In the time to come, Women's Union at all levels in Ha Tay will proceed with enhancing the communication activities to raise the awareness of Union's cadres o­n state's Laws; improving the effectiveness of the activities of drug and social evil preventing clubs; coordinating with departments and branches to develop 30 healthy residential quarters without drug and social evils in 2007.

 

From the very first example of the club "Prevention of drug and social evils from families" in Son Loc ward (Son Tay town) and Xuan Mai town (Chuong My district), Women's Union at all levels in Ha Tay has established 562 clubs, attracting nearly 20,000 members. In such clubs, members exchange experiences in nourishing and educating children, share their inner feelings and sentiments. Clubs' members are also provided with loans, employment to generate income and actively participate in the movement "The whole population unites to develop the cultural life." Recently, Ha Tay Women's Union has established an "Empathy Club", attracting 80 members who are Union's members, drug-addicted and HIV/AIDS - infected women.

 

Cadres and members of Ha Tay Women's Union have constructively participated in 1485 people's self-management groups, contributing to eliminate gathering points of the drug addicts and prostitutes in the province. Especially, Women's Unions of districts of Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen and Chuong My have motivated 150 drug addicts to detoxify at home and 400 drug addicts to detoxify at rehabilitation centers. Union's members have made donation of money, rice, clothes, breeding animals for 350 families whose members are drug addicts to develop household economy, and gradually stabilize their lives.
