06/10/2006
The capital city of Ha Noi is striving to give care for and proper treatment to all women and children who fall victim of HIV/AIDS by 2010.

The target, which is coupled with the goals of providing care for 80 percent of HIV/AIDS carriers and antiretroviral (ARV) medications to 70 percent of HIV/AIDS patients, was presented at a workshop co-sponsored by the municipal Public Health Service and the World Health Organisation in Ha Noi on Sept. 29.

Participants, apart from exchanging views on the reality of management, care for and treatment of HIV carriers in Ha Noi, were reported that the capital city established a HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Centre in October 2005 to provide care for and treatment to HIV carriers and AIDS patients.

The city has offered consultation and care for almost 9,000 HIV/AIDS carriers and treatment to 1,800 victims at health clinics and 1,500 others at rehabilitation centres annually. These figures, however, accounted for 56 percent of the people affected./.
