Government cares for trafficked victims

04/07/2007
The Vietnamese Government on January 29 issued a regulation instructing assistance to trafficked women and children to reintegrate into the community.

The regulation assures rights, legitimate interests and non-discrimination of victims to enable them to reintegrate into the community and stabilise their lives thereafter.

According to the regulation, victims of trafficking will be provided with living skills, vocational training and financial aid if they are facing difficulties. They will be assisted in accessing loans if they wish to establish a new livelihood.

Child victims will be helped to return home. Those who are orphans or displaced will be sent to live at social support centres.

The Vietnamese State has encouraged local and foreign individuals and organisations to take part in assisting trafficking victims to lead normal lives.
