Get-together celebrates neighbouring countries' lunar New Year

A get-together was held in Hanoi on April 7 to celebrate the traditional New Year festival of Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, drawing a crowd of diplomatic corps, officials and students of these nationalities.

Deputy President of the Hanoi Friendship Organisation Dao Thanh Huong said at the event that Hanoians, like the entire Vietnamese nation, now raise toasts to share New Year happiness with friends from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar.


It is an opportunity for us to better understand each other's customs, thus promoting solidarity and friendship among nations, she said.


In turn, Lao Ambassador Bounthone Sengkhammy expressed thanks for the deep hospitality given to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar from Hanoians and the entire Vietnamese nation as well.


He also wished the upcoming Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam great success, bringing strong development for Vietnam and contributing to stability and prosperity in the region and increasing ASEAN prestige in Asia and the world as a whole.
