The ceremony marked the 60th anniversary of Vietnam – Laos diplomatic tie and 45 years of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Member of Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee and VWU President Ha Thi Nga affirmed that the sharing and mutual support of the two countries’ women and Women's Unions has contributed to the achievements of the both sides so far. Particularly, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the two Unions at all levels actively and promptly encouraged and supported each other in the pandemic response with many practical and meaningful activities.

VWU President Ha Thi Nga and LWU President Inlavan Keobounphan signed a cooperation agreement

Sharing the common view on the friendship tie, Ms. Inlavan Keobounphan, Member of the Central Party Committee, LWU President noted that the sentiment of Vietnam – Lao women is invaluable asset and great contribution to the victory of the two countries' revolutions.

On behalf of the President of Vietnam, the VWU presented the third-class Independence Order to three individuals, the third-class Labour Order to one collective, the Friendship Order to 15 collectives and three individuals, and the Friendship Medal to two individuals of the LWU in recognition of their major contributions to the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States.

At the ceremony, the two unions signed a cooperation agreement for the 2022 – 2027 period, showing their wish and determination to promote relations via more practical and effective activities in the next five years, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

On this occasion, also took place the signing ceremony between the Hanoi Women’s Union and Vientiane Women’s Union; Dak Lak Women’s Union and Sekong Women’s Union.
