Free surgery provided to children with facial deformity

Around 100 children who suffered from hare lips and cleft palates in the north area of Vietnam will be given free surgeries at the Vietnam – Cuba Hospital from July 13 to 17.

 This humanitarian programme which is organised by the Operation Smile Vietnam with the donation worth VND 190 million from Vietnam’s FPT Software Company, aims to bring brighter smiles to hundreds of Vietnamese children across the country.

“We are very proud to be a part of such noble programme that Operation Smile Vietnam has been carrying out,” said Hong Lien Bui – FPT Software CEO and Managing Director.

“Together with medical team from Operation Smile Vietnam and Vietnam Cuba Hospital, more than 50 FPT Software staffs have given up their time to make a difference to these children’s lives. The 45-minute surgeries offer immediate and life-altering results, giving hope and social acceptance back to children and their families,” she added.

According to Chairperson of Operation Smile Vietnam Board of Sponsors Ken Atkinson, in developing countries such as Vietnam, o­ne in 500 children is born with a facial deformity. He said that in 2009, working with surgical and medical volunteers here in Vietnam and the visiting teams from overseas; Operation Smile Vietnam will be able to provide surgery for another 2,000 children, thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors, such as FPT Software.
