Ford Foundation sponsors Hue Festival

The US Ford Foundation has granted US $100,000 to a biennial festival in the imperial Hue City which is scheduled for June 3-11.

The money will be used to restore and improve Hue’s traditional courts and festivities. It will also help increase management capacity for Hue Festival Centre.


Earlier, the festival’s organising board received US $30,000 from France for cultural staff training. Several local companies pledged to contribute around US $200,000to the festival.


This year’s festival, themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development” will showcase the cultural values of Hue City and Vietnam through hundreds of festivities programmes.


The city expects to welcome 300,000 tourists during the festival.
