Ms. Ha Thi Nga - President of the Vietnam Women's Union giving an interview on the sidelines of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

What do you think about the role of women in external affairs?

There are many advantages for women who participate in foreign relations. Women are more gentle and flexible but no less decisive and profound. In recent years, many women have made important contributions to the diplomatic activities of the Party and State.

Once women are given adequate attention and provided with necessary knowledge and skills, they will surely make an important contribution to the country’s tasks, including foreign relations activities.

Which contents do you like most in the documents of this Congress in relations to promoting the position and role of women, especially in international integration period?

We are very glad that the Congress’ documents have clearly stated the roles and positions of women in general, and the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) in particular.

We are very happy about the orientation of the Central Party Committee on the building of modern woman. We believe that women need to respond to the development trends, especially in the context of profound and strong integration of the country.

In this regards, what would be the orientation for the Vietnam Women's Union’s activities to enable its participation in a comprehensive and extensive international integration in line with the guidelines of the XIII Congress?

The VWU has been active in international integration and cooperation. In this process, we have been receiving effective support from international organizations and partners. Recently, the VWU Central Committee has just adopted the Resolution to support women’s international integration which identifies objective and measures to promote the role, ability and capacity of women while participating in the country's international integration process.

What do you think about the role of women in economic development?

It is obvious that women make up a high proportion of the country’s labor force. On the national level, there are many big corporations run by women. Women also have distinct advantages compared to men in economic activities.

We believe that thanks to the orientations and policies of the Party and State in the coming time, women entrepreneurs will have more opportunities and conditions to develop capacities, thus contributing better to the country's economic development, especially in the current context of profound integration.

What are your expectations of the female cadres to be elected to the XIII Central Party’s Executive Committee?

We have high expectations towards female cadres to be elected to the XIII Central Committee because for this term we have a team of very high quality cadres, among them there are many distinguished female cadres who served in various positions.

Therefore, this is a very good opportunity for these women to well perform their roles if they are elected, and thus promoting the voice of women in performing the tasks assigned by the Party and State in the future.

Thank you very much!
