Family with nine volunteer blood donors

The family of LeThi Theu, a Co Tu ethnic woman, in Par Nghi II village, A Ngo commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province has had nine members volunteering to give their blood in the past years.

In 1991, Mrs Theu was hospitalised for surgery which needed much blood at Hue central hospital. However the hospital failed to provide enough blood for her need. Therefore, members of her family had to give blood to her. Since then, Mrs Theu has become to understand more about the neccessity of blood donations to help seriously ill patients. In 1998 when a campaign for blood donation was launched in her province, she called for local people to give blood for charity purposes. She has also called for members of her family to join movements launched by the province and district. So far, all nine members of her family have volunteered to give blood in her locality.
