Exhibition focuses on Uncle Ho testament and Viet Nam films

HA NOI — An art exhibit to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s testament opened in Ha Noi yesterday.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the exhibit features the best 600 photos and paintings collected from the movement Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Exemplary Morals, which was launched in 2007.

Audiences will also have a chance to review the Vietnamese film industry’s achievements in the past 40 years through photos of actors, films, and prizes that Vietnamese directors won in national and foreign competitions

To educate the public about Uncle Ho and honour his love for cinema, films about him are being shown o­n a big screen at the exhibition.

Classical cameras used in the first period of cinema will also be o­n display.

The Performing Arts Department has organised various dance, drum, and circus performances; traditional ca tru (ceremonial singing) and quan ho (love duet singing) songs will be song along with various songs about President Ho.

During the exhibit’s opening ceremony, Ha Noi People’s Committee vice chairwoman Ngo Thi Thanh Hang made special mention of ten historical sites that were recognised as special national relics, including the Thang Long Citadel and the Commemorative House of President Ho Chi Minh in Ha Noi, My Son heritage site and Hoi An ancient town in the central province of Quang Nam, Hue ancient capital, Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh Province, the Hung King Temple in Phu Tho Province, Dien Bien Phu battlefield in Lai Chau Province, and Doc Lap (Independence) Palace in HCM City.

The exhibit will run though September 2 at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre, 148 Giang Vo, Ha Noi.
