Encouragement letter by VWU President to women in Covid-19 hardest-hit localities

13/08/2020
On behalf of VWU Presidium, President Ha Thi Nga sent an encouragement letter to VWU staff and women in Da Nang City and Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces who are facing a new wave of Covid-19.
WU members of Hoa Cuong Nam ward, Da Nang city prepare vegetables and fruits for people in quarantine.

The letter reads as follows:

“Dear sisters,

Vietnam is entering the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic which affects our lives in many ways. Besides health consequences, social distancing and isolation bring negative impacts to the employment and livelihood as well. The Party and the Government has given strong direction, while sectors and different localities are enthusiastically supporting the hotspot of Da Nang and neighboring provinces. Joining efforts with the entire political system, the provincial/municipal WUs throughout the country has proactively upheld the "four on-the-spot"[1] spirit and carried out practical activities to support women members and epidemic response forces.

On behalf of Central VWU Presidium, I would like to convey my greetings and encouragement to all members, women and WU staff at all levels. Let us keep our spirit, being alert to the epidemic and at the same time refraining from fear and anxiety, supporting each other and serving as soldier in the “family fortresses" in the fight against the epidemic. The Women’s Unions of the 3 hardest-hit localities need to actively collaborate with local authorities and organizations, keep their links with the women and members, diversify communication activities and support women in the epidemic fighting, making the Women’s Union a truly trusted address for women to turn to push back the disease.

Best wishes of health and safety to you all and your family members!”

On this occasion, the Central VWU has provided 2000 gift packages worth 600 million VND including face masks and basic necessities to needy families in social distancing.
