Dong Thap Provincial Women’s Union: Exemplary Women Entrepreneurs Gathering

On the occasion of 79th Anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union (20 October, 1930 – 20 October, 2009), on 19 October, 2009, Dong Thap Provincial Women’s Union organized a gathering of nearly 200 exemplary women entrepreneurs from the province.

Present at this gathering were representatives from Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, representatives from different sectors and women’s Unions of district/ town level.

 

To support women in economic development, for the past years, women’s unions of different levels in Dong Thap Province have established 360 groups of female petty traders with 7,885 members, 24 clubs of petty traders with 496 members. The Women’s Unions of Tam Nong, Thap Muoi Districts, Cao Lanh City and Sa dec Town have established 4 clubs with 98 members. These clubs are models for attracting the participation of small-sized business women and providing them basic training o­n marketing, financial management, business culture, supporting them in business, recommending, supplying labor, thus contributing to employment creation, income generation. This also provides the business women opportunities to exchange their business experiences.

 

The Women’s Union has become a bridge providing active support for the clubs’ members.

 

Mr. Nguyen Hai Quan – Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Provincial Business Association, in his remarks at the event, showed appreciation to the exemplary women entrepreneurs, encouraged female business circle in the province to make use of the strengths of their business sectors, bring into play their dynamics, creativity of Vietnamese women in the period of national industrialization and modernization, thus being deserved the slogan “Heroic, indomitable, faithful, industrious”.
