Discussion on Activities Regarding Population and Family Planning in Ho Chi Minh City

On May 16th, 2006, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union held a talk between the Women’s Union and the Ho Chi Minh City's Committee of Population, Family and Children to discuss and exchange experiences and co-operate on activities concerning population and family planning.

Over 30 participants are officials of the Central Women's Union, permanent members being responsible for population and family planning, professionals from 24 urban and suburban districts of Ho Chi Minh City and permanent members from women's unions in communes of five suburban districts.

 

Discussion focused o­n the advantages and difficulties faced in coordinating tasks relating to propaganda and advocacy o­n family planning in recent times; experiences gained through advocating local people to implement family planning methods, No.47 Resolution of the Politburo o­n implementation of Population and Family Planning policy, No. 49 Direction of the Secretariat of the Central Party Committee o­n Family. Participants all agreed that relevant sectors and unions needed to pay more attention to communication and advocacy o­n population and family planning; the Party Committee and People’s Committees at all levels need to pay more attention o­n training and allocating qualified staff o­n Population and Family Planning.
