23/05/2016
With the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Vietnam Women's Academy in collaboration with Chung Ang University (Korea) successfully completed the project "Research on Strategic Plan Development for Training High Quality Women Labour Force, period 2016-2020 ". The project was carried out since June 2015.

Under the project, a research was done on the situation of and training needs for high quality female labor in Northern Vietnam which could serve as inputs to develop a strategic plan on training high quality female labor resources. This is an effort to bring into full play female labor’s potentials and ensure gender equality in international integration.

The research was carried outin 5 Northern provinces and cities, i.e. Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh and Lang Son. Research methodology included quantitative questionnaires, in-depth and quickinterviews, seminars and case studies. The Women's Union officials, local agencies, and enterpreuneurs provided researchers with very useful information during the research.

The research showed that in the integration context, beside capabilities in terms of health, sense of responsibility and working skills, high-quality female labor should also have broad knowledge about the outside environment. This requires changes in vocational training programs for female labor.

The study also showed interesting findings on women’s job selection. For those looking for jobs in enterprises, income is their key consideration, while those staying and working in their home villages prioritize the jobs that suit best their family conditions. Among the research’s samples, textiles and footwear enterprises have the highest rate of trained women workers. Fiber and fabric manufacturing, footwear and garment are also among the most favorite women’s choices of vocational training courses. Vocational training in many localities is faced with various difficulties; vocational training and job creation activities for women remain inefficient.

The project conclusion workshop was held at the Women’s Academy on April 21, 2016.
