Contributing to crime prevention for the peace of the city

In the first 6 months of 2009, Da Nang Women’s Union at all levels has concentrated on fostering the communication of crime prevention.

As a result, the Union at all levels organized 197 places to communicate Resolution No 09/CP, knowledge relating to crime prevention, especially crime committed by teenagers. They organized 5 classes o­n morality education and law and 5 discussions o­n the role of family in managing and educating disobedient adolescents with the participation of more than 14.000 union’s members, 350 couples, 157 mothers having disobedient children and 309 law-violating teenagers. Specifically, Women’s Unions of 11 communes in Hoa Vang district coordinated with the police and local authority to communicate and mobilize 3.594 member families to sign a commitment of conducting no crime and social evils.

 

At present, the Women’s Union at all levels has been managing and educating 338 disobedient adolescents (including 12 girls), 46 local law violators (including 40 girls). In order to support, manage and educate in the last 6 months, the Women’s Union at the grassroots level has collaborated with the police. Together, they visited and encouraged 21 law violators who have made progress, given presents worth 420.000 VND to 4 people; introduced 4 teenagers who have made progress to free vocational training classes; given loans worth 15 million VND to a household. Furthermore, the coordination with authority, branches and organizations mobilized 179 hjgh school dropouts to come back to school and 49 to continue classes and vocational training classes. The Women’s Union and their partners offered 34 scholarships and 3 savings books worth 18.900.000 VND, 13 bicycles, 46 desks, 20 shares of suits and books, 184 sets of books and notebooks and 130 kg rice for households with students going back to school or at risk of leaving school.
