Dear Mdm. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha,
On behalf of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Viet Nam Women’s Union on the occasion of its 12th National Women's Congress.
I commend the Viet Nam Women’s Union (VWU) for its decades of strong leadership in promoting the interests of women in Vietnamese society, and working to influence policies on gender equality and the empowerment of women while also serving women at the community level.
UN Women is committed to continuing its partnership with VWU and supporting your endeavors to making a difference in the lives of women and girls and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for gender equality by 2030. In the coming years, we hope that we can cooperate with VWU to help the organization grow even stronger by build further alliances with advocates for gender equality and women’s empowerment from across sectors, including associations and organizations outside of the government, for VWU to lead in pursuing social justice and equality for the most marginalized and voiceless women in the country. We also look forward to seeing VWU become a centre of progressive thinking and excellence in research on gender equality issues for sound policy advice to the party and the government.
UN Women looks forward to our continuing collaboration towards greater recognition of women’s contribution to society and creating an enabling environment for all women in Viet Nam to be able to develop their full potential.
