Chairperson of the National Committee for the Advancement of Women in Vietnam received Kingdom of Norway’s Secretary of State.

On 21st May, 2007, Mme. Ha Thi Khiet, Chairperson of the NCFAW, President of the VWU warmly received Mme. Anne Stenhammer- State Secretary of the Kingdom of Norway. The two sides exchanged information on gender equality, especially women’s participation in politics.

President Ha Thi Khiet welcomed the visit of Norwegian Secretary of Sate; informed the preparation for the implementation of Gender Equality Law as well as the activities of NCFAW and VWU.

 

The Norwegian Secretary of Sate highly appreciated the activities of NCFAW and VWU, expressed her concerns in human trafficking and promised to support Vietnam in anti-human trafficking activities. Norway has worked out an action plan for rights and gender equality in development cooperation focusing o­n 4 fields: politic empowerment, economic empowerment, women’s rights and reproductive health care and prevention of violence against women. Norwegian Government has actively cooperated with the United Nations in a pilot program o­n “anorganization of United Nations” in Vietnam.

 

On this occasion, President Ha Thi Khiet expressed her attitude towards Norwegian Government’s practical assistances for Vietnam in increasing the rate of women in National Assembly as well as the development of Gender Equality Law. The two sides affirmed the future cooperation for women’s equality and advancement.
