Presiding over the event was Madam Ha Thi Khiet, a member of the Vietnam’s Central Party, President of the VWU and President of the National Committee for the Advancement of Women. Hundreds of VWU’s staff attended the ceremony and donated nearly 10 million VND.
Other participants of the fundraiser were The Voice of Vietnam and the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province. The inspiration of the statue is Mother Nguyen Thi Thu.
Mother Thu lives in Dien Thang commune (Dien Bao district, Quang Nam province). She has 9 sons, 1 son in-law and 1 maternal grandson who were martyrs in the two resistance wars. She is the embodiment of Vietnam women’s patriotism, sacrifice, and loyalty to the Party and is representative of Vietnam’s 47,000 heroic mothers.
